At a young age, Gymnastics is the best sport for your child to gain the body awareness, agility, balance and strength he will need to be the best at whatever he does. Whether he goes on to be a competitive gymnast as part of TeamMGC, or he has hopes of going to the next level in other sports, gymnastics acts as an "Accelerator" for athletic ability and coordination.
When it comes to any sport, the number one thing that will ensure consistency and longevity is flexability. It is the most important aspect to injury prevention and safety. the first 10-15 minutes of every class will be focused doing a full body warm up and stretch.
This is by far the most fun part of being a gymnast!!! This is where you will see the most growth when it comes to mental development and self-confidence. When learning new skills on 1 of the 6 events that make up Men's Gymanstics, children are pushed out of their comfort zones and taught how to deal with fear. This is where you will be amazed at how all kids are truly resilient.
Gymnastics takes a lot of strength...period. From start to finish, children have to use their strength to do every single thing that they do. Every part of the class will have a strength component to it, even if it is simply your child working on a new skill where their body will start to naturally build the strength to do it. Generally, you will notice a general fitness component added in throughout the class or at the end. We like to keep this fun by doing ccontests and games that are very effective.
This is an area that naturally progresses through learning new skills. Also, we work to improve this through fun obstacle courses, races and other innovative ways to test the kids' abilities!!!
